BBC Radio Kent Interview
On Wednesday CEO Community Pharmacy Kent, Mark Anyaegbuna, spoke on BBC Radio Kent about the real challenges community pharmacies are facing across Kent and Medway.
Financial pressures are making things incredibly tough. Many pharmacies are having to reduce their opening hours, cut staffing levels, and in some cases dispense medicines at a loss. Some are now closing as early as 6pm, and the hundred hour model pharmacy is no longer viable. For the past three years 22 pharmacies have closed around Kent and Medway.
Despite these challenges, the sector continues to innovate and expand its clinical role. Community pharmacies deliver more services than medicines supply , from blood pressure checks to identifying risks of heart disease and stroke, pharmacy teams are helping to relieve pressure on GP practices and providing essential, accessible healthcare services to our local communities
The positive feedback we hear from patients is a powerful reminder of just how dedicated and committed our pharmacy teams are every single day.
